A new 236,000 square foot High School campus housing 9-12 grade that opened in the Fall of 2004. The campus includes 4 structures including an Academic Building, Athletic Complex, Vocational and Field House Building and a Tennis Center. The 40 acre site was developed to also include practice fields for football and soccer, a regulation size all- weather track and 8 tennis courts. Features include an 800 seat auditorium, an 1800 seat Gymnasium, an open 2 story Commons / Dining area and 5 computer labs.

A new 92,000 square foot Intermediate School serving 5th and 6th graders. The school was designed for a projected population of 800 students. A double “H” plan was utilized to provide separation between the grades with common spaces in the center. Great attention was paid to utilize natural light and open spaces to provide an inviting atmosphere for learning.

A new 113,000 square foot Middle School for fifth thru eighth grade students that opened Fall 2005 was the first new facility built by Amarillo ISD in 40 years. Designed to house 4 different grade levels as opposed to the traditional 3 levels in middle school, this design incorporates 4 separate wings for the 4 grade levels with common spaces in the center. As separation between 5/6 grade and 7/8 grade was very important to the district, separate entrances and 2 commons with remote Assistant Principal and counselor offices help keep the students in their respective areas while sharing the gymnasium, cafeteria and media center are achieved through scheduling.

Our firm was selected to design the school after winning a design competition.  The school has been built over several years in multiple phases as funds were available.  Phase I was constructed in 1998 and only the first floor was finished out to house the Kindergarten classes of the school.  The second floor was left as a shell until 2007 when it was finished out with classrooms, art rooms, music rooms and auditorium for the Middle School component of the school.  In 2018, a 16,890 sf addition added a new gymnasium that was designed to double as an auditorium.  The addition also included locker rooms and a full concession stand for the new gymnasium.  Approximately 10,200 sf was renovated to provide a storm shelter for the students in several classrooms.

White Deer ISD and Lavin Architects began bond planning with White Deer ISD in late 2013 for the 2014 bond projects which were eventually voted for and constructed. The flagship projects were the new state-of-the-art Athletic Complex and 7th and 8th Grade building which includes a Band Hall and tornado shelter. The project also included the study and renovations to existing facilities.  The improvements included entrance security improvements, energy-efficient window replacements, HVAC replacements, parking improvements, and other upgrades.

Wildorado ISD passed a $13 million dollar bond election in their community to build a school building for the first time in over 60 years. The new facility houses students from PreK thru 12th grade. Great care was taken to separate younger students from the Middle School and High School students while allowing everyone to share common spaces such as cafeteria, library, and gymnasium. The project also includes a shop for the Agricultural program and a football field. Clerestory windows in corridors and commons bring natural light into all main communal spaces. The secondary gymnasium also doubles as an auditorium with enhanced acoustics and sound system and a large stage as utilizing all square footage available was of great importance to the success of the program.
